Eduardo González Palmer (born August 23, 1934 in Maravatío , Michoacán , † September 25, 2016 ) was a Mexican football player in the position of the striker .

biography

Eduardo Palmer emerged from the youth department of Club América , where he received his first professional contract in 1951 and for which he scored 107 goals over the years. His most successful season as a goalscorer was 1958/59, when he became top scorer in the Mexican league with 25 goals .

Palmer won the Copa México twice in a row with the Americanistas in 1954 and 1955 , with the final opponent in both cases being America's arch-rival Chivas Guadalajara . In 1955, America also won the Supercup with a 3-2 win over Zacatepec .

In 1961, Palmer came to a total of four missions for the Mexican national team . On his debut on April 5, 1961 against the selection of the Netherlands Antilles, he contributed two hits to the 7-0 final result. He scored another goal on the Mexicans trip to Europe in his second international match on April 19, 1961 against the Netherlands, which "el Tri" won 3-1. His last international match took place on May 10, 1961 in Mexico's biggest defeat (a 8-0 defeat against England).
