Eduardo Pereira Martínez , also known as Eduardo Pereyra , (born March 21, 1954 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

He played in the position of goalkeeper and in the early 1990s was a regular regular at the Argentinian first division club Independiente . In 1990 his weight was approx. 79 kg with a height of 1.82 meters.

His career began in 1971 when he was young for Nacional Montevideo , where he was initially the third goalkeeper behind Héctor Santos and Manga . From January to June 1974, Pereira then joined the junior team Peñarols . He then left Uruguay to join the Guaraní Club in Paraguay . From 1977 he gained experience in other European countries when he moved to the Spanish club UD Salamanca , which was playing in the Spanish first division at the time. Pereira stayed in Spain until 1983, where he still played for Espanyol Barcelona and Sabadell . In 1984 he returned to Uruguay and then initially worked for the Montevideo Wanderers for a season . From 1985 to 1987 he joined Peñarol again there. The then 31-year-old was initially scheduled as an experienced substitute goalkeeper. At that time he had no name in Uruguay and was unknown to the majority of fans . With the Aurinegros , he won the Uruguayan championship in 1985 and 1986, respectively. In 1987 he was also in Peñarol's ranks at the historic Clásico against Nacional on April 23, that year as part of a friendly tournament when three Peñarol players were sent off and the game ended with eight against eleven. In that year, in which he with the Aurinegros the 1987 Copa Libertadores won, he was also from the El País in the context of this respect since 1986-annual election in South America's Team of the Year chosen.

From 1990 he played for Central Español and finally for Liverpool Montevideo , where he ended his career in 1993.

National team

On June 23, 1987 Pereira made his debut in the Uruguayan national team and completed a total of ten internationals by May 22, 1990, in which he had to accept seven goals. He won the Copa America 1987 with the "Celeste" . At the 1990 World Cup he was also a member of the Uruguayan squad .
