Edward G. Krubasik

Edward G. Krubasik (born January 19, 1944 in Vienna ) is a German physicist and manager.

Life

Krubasik studied physics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (experimental work on the heavy ion accelerator ) and was from 1968 at the Institute of Theoretical Nuclear Physics at the Karlsruhe University worked on which he in 1971 with the dissertation topic determination of π- amplitudes in the Coulomb interference region at high energies received his doctorate and where he was an assistant. From 1971 he worked at the SLAC . He received an MBA from Insead in Fontainebleau . From 1973 to 1996 he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey in Düsseldorf, New York and Munich. There he acted as partner and director and led the global consultancy for innovation and technology management, was head of the electronics, telecommunications and aviation division in Europe. From 1997 to 2006 he was a member of the central board of Siemens AG with responsibility for industry / automation / control, transport and corporate technology. As part of a corruption scandal, he had to leave the Executive Board of Siemens AG. In 2009 it agreed on a settlement payment with the Supervisory Board.

He had a seat on the supervisory boards of Dresdner Bank (1998–2009), Vallourec (Paris, since 2007), KSB AG (Frankenthal), Honsel AG (2008/09), Stinnes AG (Essen) and AsahiTec and 2008 until 2014 on the Supervisory Board of Commerzbank .

Krubasik has been an honorary professor at the Technical University of Munich since 2000 . He is chairman of the music committee in the cultural group of the German economy , was on the Council for Sustainable Development (2006-2010), was a member of the CDU Economic Council (and chairman of its committee for growth and innovation) and was an ambassador for the New Social Market Economy initiative . From 2004 to 2007 he was a member of the BDI Presidium . He was President of the Central Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry (ZVEI) and President of Orgalime, the European umbrella organization of the metal and electrical industry associations in Brussels. From April 2014 to April 2016 he was President of the German Physical Society .

Since 2018, Krubasik has been even more involved in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. He sits on the advisory boards of the Creathor Ventures Technology Fund and the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence and is a co-founder of the DPG Working Group (Physics, modern Information-Technologies and Artificial Intelligence).
