Edward Szymkowiak (born March 13, 1932 in Szopienice , Poland , † January 28, 1990 in Bytom , Poland) was a Polish football goalkeeper.

He made his debut with small homeland clubs such as TuS Bogucice (1944) and KS 22 Mała Dąbrówka (1945-1949). From 1950 to 1952 he played with Ruch Chorzów , where he was two Polish champions. There it held him only two years before he played in 1952 with Garnizonowy WKS Bielsko and 1953-1956 with Legia Warszawa . There, as with Ruch Chorzow, he was twice Polish champion. Between 1957 and 1969 he played for Polonia Bytom , where he was once Polish champion and ended his career.

He also won the International Football Cup 1963/64 with Polonia , which corresponds to today's Intertoto Cup . He was awarded the golden shoe four times by the Polish sports newspaper Sport .

In his honor, the Polonia Bytom stadium bears his name (Edward-Szymkowiak Stadium).

For the Polish national football team , he completed 53 games and made his debut on May 25, 1952 against Romania. He played his last international match against Finland on September 26, 1965. As a national player, he also took part in the Olympic Games in Helsinki and Rome .
