Edwin Arturo Congo Murillo , or Edwin Congo for short (born October 7, 1976 in Bogotá ) is a former Colombian football player .

Player career

real Madrid

Edwin Congo started his football career with Once Caldas in his Colombian homeland. There he scored 30 goals in 110 games, which is why the great Real Madrid became aware of him. Although he was under contract with the “Royal” for four years, he did not even play for the first team. For the 1999/2000 season he was loaned to the Spanish first division club Real Valladolid . The following year to Vitória Guimarães from Portugal. In the 2001/2002 season he was loaned again, this time to the French second division club FC Toulouse .

The last few years

In the summer of 2003 Edwin Congo left Real after his hapless engagement. From 2003 to 2006 Edwin Congo played for three years for UD Levante , with whom he relegated once and rose twice. For the 2006/2007 season he went to the second division Sporting Gijón for whom he scored 11 goals in 34 games and was therefore able to recommend himself for a contract with the first division club Recreativo Huelva . After only six missions, however, he had to leave the Andalusians after a year.

Now he plays for the fifth division (Regional Preferente) Olímpic de Xàtiva. At this football club he scored three goals in two games. He ended his career in the summer of 2009.
