Textolite

Novotex is the trade name for a material made of hard tissue based on phenoplast . It is used u. a. in mechanical engineering, as it guarantees low-wear power transmission even without special lubrication. From the 1930s onwards, Novotex became more widespread as a material for the manufacture of spur gears for the camshaft drive of car engines. Several constructions from Borgward , Ford , Opel , Renault and Volvo, among others , have been provided with gears made of this material. Trade name in the 1930s was Novotext. Other name: Textolit. Etronax from Elektro-Isola in Vejle (Denmark). Today the standard abbreviation is HGW (phenolic resin hard tissue) according to DIN 7735 or PF CC (phenolic woven cotton cloth) according to IEC 60893.
