Edwin Duing Eshleman (born December 4, 1920 in Quarryville , Lancaster County , Pennsylvania , †  January 10, 1985 in Lancaster , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1967 and 1977 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edwin Eshleman attended Franklin and Marshall College until 1942 . During the Second World War he was a lieutenant in the Coast Guard. He later studied political science at Temple University . After that he worked as a teacher. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1954 and 1966 he was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives .

In the 1966 congressional election , Eshleman was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 16th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded John C. Kunkel on January 3, 1967 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1977 . During this time, among other things, the end of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement, as well as the Watergate affair in 1974 .

In 1976 Edwin Eshleman renounced another candidacy. He died in Lancaster on January 10, 1985.
