Edwin Kantar

Edwin Bruce (Eddie) Kantar (born November 9, 1932 in Minneapolis ) is an American bridge player and winner of two open world championships for national teams ( Bermuda Bowls ). He is the author of numerous books and newspaper columns on the subject of bridge. He lives in Santa Monica , California.

Life

Kantar was born in Minneapolis. He learned the game of bridge from a friend of his father's at the age of eleven. At the age of seventeen he taught the game to his friends and then at the University of Minnesota , where he studied languages.

In addition to the Bermuda Bowls won in 1977 and 1979 , he has won thirteen North American championships and a number of other, mostly national, titles in the course of his life.

Edwin Kantar has also written more than 20 books to date and is a columnist for Bridge Bulletin , The Bridge World , Bridge Today . His articles are u. a. also printed regularly in Bridge Magazin , the organ of the German Bridge Association .

Kantar is the only world-class bridge player to have participated in a table tennis world championship.
