Edzard Cirksena
Edzard Cirksena (* unknown; † 1441 ) was chief of Greetsiel , Norden , Emden and Brokmerland .
His father Enno Cirksena and he had married the last two heir daughters of the important Syardsna von Berum family (also spelled Sirtzena, Syrtza or Zyertza) and adopted their family name, which Edzard was probably the first to write Cirksena . This spelling was retained by all descendants.
From his father he had inherited rule over almost all of East Friesland , albeit without the Harlingerland . He died of the plague in 1441, the day after his wife Frouwa.
