Egg Island (from English egg , egg ' ) is a round island with a diameter of 2.5 km and a height of up to 310 m off the south side of the Trinity Peninsula at the northern end of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Islas Águila group , it is 1.5 km west of Tail Island in the northeastern part of the Prince Gustav Canal .
The island was probably discovered by a team led by Johan Gunnar Andersson on the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) led by Otto Nordenskjöld . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped them in 1945 and named them after their relative geographic location to the neighboring islands of Tail Island, Eagle Island and Beak Island .
