Egidijus Laužikas

Egidijus Laužikas (born July 6, 1959 in Troškūnai , Anykščiai district ) is a Lithuanian lawyer, judge in the Lietuvos Aukščiausiasis Teismas of the civil matters department (formerly also in the Lithuanian Court of Appeal ).

Life

From 1977 to 1982 studied Egidijus Laužikas in graduate studies at the Law Faculty of Vilnius University . From 1988 to 1995 he was judge of the Second District Court in Vilnius and deputy chairman, from 1995 to 1997 judge in the District Court of Vilnius , from 1997 to 1999 judge of the Court of Appeal , from 1999 to 2019 judge of the civil matters department of Lietuvos Aukščiausiasis Teismas . In 2019 he was arrested by investigators on suspicion of corruption at the same time as 25 other suspects (it concerns the suspicion of having received bribes between 1,000 and 100,000 euros in numerous criminal as well as civil and administrative proceedings).

From 1982 to 1984 Laužikas was assistant in the chair of criminal law at Vilnius University, from 1993 to 2009 in the chair of civil law and civil procedure , from September 2009 in the chair of private law (as university lecturer and lecturer in civil procedure law ).

Laužikas was a member of the Working Group for the Development of the Lithuanian Code of Civil Procedure 2002. He is co-author of the Commentary on the Code of Civil Procedure .

Laužikas is married to lawyer Daiva Vasiliauskaitė-Laužikienė (* 1960) and have daughters Irtautė Laužikaitė (* 1983), lawyer, and Ieva Laužikaitė (* 1987).
