Troškūnai ( ) is a small town in Lithuania . It has the status of a city office (miesto seniūnija) in the Rajongemeinde Anykščiai . The town is 14 km west of Anykščiai.
Troskunai is the second smallest city in Lithuania, the smallest is Panemunė (About Memel) in the self-governing community Pagėgiai (Pogegen).
history
The city was founded in 1696 by Władysław Sokołowski, who called St. Bernard dogs to the city at that time , who built a church and a monastery there. After a large fire that destroyed numerous wooden buildings, the place was rebuilt in 1770 with stone buildings.
