Eglė Balčiūnaitė (born October 31, 1988 in Šiauliai , Lithuanian SSR , USSR ) is a Lithuanian middle -distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter distance .
She qualified as the only Lithuanian 800 meter runner for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , where she was eliminated in the semifinals and thus finished 20th. At the U23 European Championships in 2009 in Kaunas , Lithuania , she finished sixth in the final over 800 meters.
At the 2010 World Indoor Championships in Doha , she reached the final, where she was fifth with a new Lithuanian indoor national record of 2: 01.37 minutes. It also holds the national indoor record over 400 meters.
For the first time she ran under two minutes on July 22, 2010 in the Diamond League in Monaco , when she reached a time of 1: 59.29 minutes.
