Egtved is a Danish city with 2,420 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It is located in Vejle municipality in the Syddanmark region . Until the municipal reform in 2007, Egtved was the seat of the municipality of the same name with 15,300 inhabitants and belonged to the Vejle Office . Most of the Egtved commune became part of the new Vejle commune, but some of it also became part of the Kolding commune .
Egtved is located in a hilly landscape that was shaped by moraines. About three kilometers to the northwest of Egtved is the grave of the Bronze Age girl from Egtved , which the farmer Peder Platz found in 1921 when he wanted to clear the remains of a burial mound. The burial mound has since been reconstructed. The small exhibition “Egtved Pigens Grav” is in the immediate vicinity. Egtved has a Romanesque church from 1170. Not far from town is Nybjerg Mølle, a former water mill.
