Museum about the Egtved girl.

Egtved is a Danish city with 2,420 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It is located in Vejle municipality in the Syddanmark region . Until the municipal reform in 2007, Egtved was the seat of the municipality of the same name with 15,300 inhabitants and belonged to the Vejle Office . Most of the Egtved commune became part of the new Vejle commune, but some of it also became part of the Kolding commune .

Egtved is located in a hilly landscape that was shaped by moraines. About three kilometers to the northwest of Egtved is the grave of the Bronze Age girl from Egtved , which the farmer Peder Platz found in 1921 when he wanted to clear the remains of a burial mound. The burial mound has since been reconstructed. The small exhibition “Egtved Pigens Grav” is in the immediate vicinity. Egtved has a Romanesque church from 1170. Not far from town is Nybjerg Mølle, a former water mill.

traffic

The Kolding-Egtved railway was closed on March 31, 1930. Since then, Egtved has not been connected to the Danish rail network. Egtved is on the 176 and 417 roads. 19 kilometers from Egtved is Billund ( Legoland and Legowerke, airport), and the cities of Kolding and Vejle are both around 20 kilometers away .
