The former synagogue in Anspach , a district of Neu-Anspach in the Hochtaunus district , was a synagogue that is now used as a residential building. The building is a listed building .

history

The small Jewish community in Anspach acquired the small building with a gable roof in the 19th century to use it as a synagogue. The synagogue, which also included a classroom, was used by the Jewish residents in Anspach, Rod am Berg and Schmitten .

In 1843 there were fifteen Jewish residents in Anspach and nine in Rod am Berg. In 1905 there were seven in Anspach and eleven in Rod am Berg. Due to the small size of the Jewish community, there was no rabbi or teacher of their own . These were found in Wehrheim or Usingen .

After the murder of the Jews during the National Socialist era , there was no longer any Jewish community in Anspach. The building with address Neue Pforte 4 was converted for residential purposes and is still used today.

The Jewish cemetery was located near the synagogue .
