Anspach is a district of Neu-Anspach in the Hochtaunuskreis in southern Hesse and the seat of the city administration.

geography

Anspach is located in the eastern Hintertaunus , about six kilometers north of the Großer Feldberg ( 879  m ) and on the right, southern valley side of the Usa , which rises on the northern edge of the town center and flows towards the Wetterau in a general northeastern direction .

The district area covers more than half of the urban area of Neu-Anspach, namely the southern part, and amounts to 1991 hectares, 987 hectares of which are forested (status: 1885). The forest area extends in the south to the Taunushauptkamm near the Sandplacken . The highest point to the east is the Klingenkopf (683 m). In the adjacent valley of the Aubaches lies the nature reserve Weihergrund von Anspach and the Opel hunting lodge. At the foot of the Taunus ridge, the Stahlnhainer Grund is also part of the district. The village of Stahlnhain, which had fallen desolate in the Middle Ages, was located here .

history

Half-timbered building in Anspach

The existence of the village of Anspach has been documented since 1274.

Anspach belonged to the Kurtrierisch / Nassauischen Amt Wehrheim until 1803 . In the Duchy of Nassau it belonged (after an interlude in the Cleeberg office ) to the Usingen office from 1814 . After Nassau was annexed by Prussia , the village belonged to the Obertaunuskreis and the Usingen district .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Anspach merged voluntarily on December 1, 1970 with the two neighboring municipalities of Hausen-Arnsbach and Rod am Berg to form the new municipality of Neu-Anspach. Local districts were not established.

North of the USA, in the Anspach district and at the level of the Taunusbahn train station , centrally located between the four settlement centers of the newly created community, an extensive new building area with a central function for Neu-Anspach was created. The Feldberg-Center shopping center , the community center and the Catholic Church of St. Mary with a community center are grouped around a market square . As an independent municipality, 3782 inhabitants last lived in Anspach in 1970. By 2010 this number had almost tripled to 10,217 due to the brisk construction activity.

coat of arms

Anspach coat of arms
Blazon : "Azure, a slight left specified silver bars ( Heblade ) beseitet of ever a golden bell."

The coat of arms, officially awarded on September 30, 1953, illustrates two customs characteristic of Anspach village life: the ten o'clock ringing, which is associated with the reconstruction of the village after the Thirty Years War, and the Hebladegesellschaft, a community of men characteristic of Anspach, who use a special lifting device to prepare the heavy tree trunks of the Taunus forests for export. The community - the place had belonged to the Wehrheim court - has only had its own seal since 1866. They are looking to reproduce the silhouette of the nearby Hochtaunus in two pointed three-dimensional mountains.

Forest swimming pool

Forest swimming pool

The forest swimming pool in the Usbachtal, west of Anspach, is an outdoor pool. Its location on the edge of the forest makes it attractive to visitors.

In 1932 the city parliament decided to build a swimming pool, the swimming pool was completed in the same year. However, progressive decline made a closure in 1953 inevitable. In 1955 a completely new building was built, which is regularly updated. In order to increase the attractiveness of the swimming pool and to reduce the deficit to be borne by the city, the association NApS (Neu-Anspach pro swimming pool) was founded.
