Location of Rod am Berg in Neu-Anspach

Rod am Berg is a district of Neu-Anspach in the Hochtaunuskreis in southern Hesse .

history

In 1256, Rod am Berg was first mentioned in a document as the oldest district of Neu-Anspach.

At the end of the 14th century, Rod am Berg was part of the Stockheim Higher Court together with Brombach , Hunoldstal and Dorfweil . The Jammerhecke pass connects Rod am Berg with the neighboring towns mentioned.

With the merger of the Stockheim and Usingen offices in 1729, Rod am Berg came to the Usingen office and belongs to the Principality of Nassau-Usingen . On April 1, 1886, the Usingen district emerged from the Usingen district , to which Rod am Berg belonged until it merged into the Hochtaunus district as part of the regional reform in Hesse in 1972.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the community Rod am Berg merged with the two neighboring communities Anspach and Hausen-Arnsbach on December 1, 1970 to form the community of Neu-Anspach. Local districts were not established.

religion

The Protestant church of Rod am Berg has been the ecclesiastical center for some villages in the upper Weiltal since the beginning of the 13th century . With the Reformation , Rod am Berg became Lutheran and was thus in natural competition with the communities in the nearby Electoral Mainz area. The Protestant parish Rod am Berg still consists of the places Rod am Berg, Dorfweil, Hunoldstal and Brombach and thus coincides with the Stockheim High Court mentioned above.

coat of arms

From 1816 the stag is included in the seals of the village mayor. In 1953 the place was officially approved by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior to have its own coat of arms. It shows a red stag walking to the left on a yellow background. In the coat of arms of the city of Neu-Anspach, an antler pole in the lower right corner refers to the coat of arms of Rod am Berg.
