Cross of Honor for Merit (Romania)

The Cross of Honor "For Merit" was donated by King Carol II of Romania on November 26, 1937 and was awarded to people who had distinguished themselves through loyal service to the royal family, for achievements in the cultural field or for particularly excellent citizenship. but for an award of the order “For Merit” were out of the question.

Order classes

The order consists of two classes.

  • I. class
  • II class

Order decoration

The sign of the order is a Maltese cross made of silver , the tips of which are small spheres. The decoration of the order “For Merit” lies on the green enamelled medallion . The back of the cross is smooth.

For military merit, the order could also be awarded with crossed swords through the cross angles. This rule was repealed by a decree of June 30, 1941.

Carrying method

The first class was worn by men as a neck medal , by women on a bow, the second class on a ribbon on the left side of the chest.

The ribbon is green with five blue stripes.

Others

The Cross of Honor “For Merit” should not be confused with the “For Merit” order.
