history

Constance Bernaud, sister in the Order of the Visitation of Mary ( Salesian Sisters ) in Bourg-en-Bresse (religious name: Marie du Sacré-Coeur), developed the idea of a "turntable" ( fr : cadran) for the adoration of the Heart of Jesus. In the middle of the disk was the Divine Heart and on the edges the names of the various worship groups: Angels, Saint Joseph with the saints, the believers, etc. The totality of the worshipers should form a kind of honor guard. As the idea became known, more and more sisters signed up - first from the monastery in Bourg, later from other monasteries - to take part in the honor guard .

Marie de Jésus Deluil-Martiny persuaded Sophie Barat , together with the Sacré-Cœur sisters , to take part in the guard of honor and obtained their establishment as a brotherhood on March 9, 1864 by the Bishop of Belley . Since Marie de Jésus Deluil-Martiny took the decisive steps for the expansion and for the establishment of the honor guard as a canonically established institution, she is regarded by some authors together with Constance Bernaud as the founder.
