Egg arakawa
Ei Arakawa ( Japanese 荒 川 医 Arakawa Ei ; * 1977 in Iwaki , Fukushima Prefecture ) is a Japanese -American performance , installation and action artist who lives in New York City and Berlin .
Arakawa studied from 2000 to 2004 at the School of Visual Arts and from 2004 to 2006 at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson. He graduated from the Whitney Independent Study Program in New York City in 2006 . In 2009 Ei Arakawa received a grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts and took part in the DAAD's Berlin artist program . He was artist in residence at Tokyo Wonder Site in 2011 . In 2014 Arakawa was awarded the Villa Romana Prize.
Ei Arakawa is known for her performance work, mainly with paintings, which tie in with historical models such as Fluxus , the Japanese artist group Gutai or the multimedia collective Jikken Kōbō . The improvised-looking choreographies are created in close collaboration with artist friends and leave the status of actor, audience and object open.
