description
The Eibenberg is located between the Traunsee and the Offensee , which you can look down on. It can be reached from Ebensee via the Eibenbergschneid , a narrow ridge area that requires some surefootedness. It got its name from the numerous yew trees , which used to be a valuable and sought-after wood. The wood of the yew tree was needed in the Middle Ages to make man-high arches ; it was also used to produce arrow poison .
Summit cross
Referring to the use of the yew trees growing on the slopes, a summit cross was made in 2011 by students and teachers of the Attnang vocational school and set up on the Eibenberg. It represents an arrow pointing towards the sky on a stretched bow.
