The Federal Social Workers' Party (ESAP) was a political party in Switzerland that belonged to the front movement .

history

On June 1, 1936, members of the National Front split off under the leadership of Ernst Hofmann and founded the ESAP.

In July 1938, the members of the Federal People's Social Movement joined ESAP.

In 1938 the Swiss National Council called for the ESAP to be banned.

During a house search of the leaders of the ESAP on November 10, 1938, the federal police found that the ESAP was financed to a significant extent by donations from large Swiss corporations. The ESAP donors included Nestlé , Sandoz , Geigy , Bally , INGA , the Winterthur Group , Swiss Reinsurance (now SwissRe ) and Oskar Sulzer , the head of the legal service at Sulzer AG .

On November 25, 1938, the Swiss federal authorities banned the ESAP newspaper, the Swiss people .

In 1940, ESAP and the even more extreme Confederation of Loyal Confederates of National Socialist Weltanschauung (BTE) merged to form the Swiss National Movement (NBS). This was banned by the Federal Council on November 19, 1940.

Political orientation

The ESAP was loyal to Germany and adopted the nationalist ideology of the NSDAP . The aim was to transform Switzerland into a National Socialist state.
