Eigensdörfer is the former collective name for the localities of Gossenberg , Neuses an den Eichen and Watzendorf in the Coburg district in Upper Franconia , which are now all districts of the Großheirath community .

The term is due to the fact that these villages used to have their own jurisdiction . The task of the executioner was taken over by the youngest husband in the village.

According to legend, this special jurisdiction goes back to Emperor Heinrich II , known as " the saint ", who is said to have made a pilgrimage to the "miraculous Maria von Watzendorf" during the construction of the Bamberg Cathedral , with the entourage on the nearby Tiereller ( a hill owned by Heinrich) and the Emperor walked to Watzendorf. Because of the good hospitality from the three surrounding villages, the emperor gave them their own jurisdiction.
