Eike Reuter

Eike Reuter (born January 31, 1938 in Magdeburg ; † February 2, 2005 in Jena ) was a German church musician.

Reuter studied at the church music school in Halle from 1956 to 1961 , among others with Eberhard Wenzel (composition) and Johannes Schäfer (organ).

From 1962 he was cantor in Nordhausen and from 1975 until his retirement in 2003 he was cantor at the town church of St. Michael in Jena . From 1991 to July 2003, he also served as a regional church music director supreme church musicians of the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Thuringia .

He made a living in children's and youth choir work and worked as an organist and composer. Among other things, he created choral works and concerts for trumpet, alphorn and trombone in connection with the organ and thus became known beyond Thuringia.

The last thing he published was his “Thuringian Christmas carols booklet” in Strube-Verlag .

The father of five children died in Jena at the age of 67.
