Eileen Dietz (born January 11, 1944 in Bayside , New York ) is an American actress who is known for her work on many horror films, such as The Exorcist , but also in series such as Springfield Story or General Hospital .

Life

As a child, Dietz appeared in many commercials alongside her twin sister Marianne DeFossey. When she was 12 she began taking acting classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse . She finally made her acting debut in 1963 as a small guest role in the American television series The Doctors . A short time later she was cast for a major role in the soap opera Love of Live . Dietz made her feature film debut as Ellie in Teenage Gang Debs . The following year she played Penny Wohl in the independent film David Holzman's Diary . The film won a rather small audience, but a photo from Dietz's nude scene was shown in Life Magazine . She later couldn't recall auditioning for the role, but added that the film was "nice to shoot".

In the late 60s and early 70s, Dietz mostly worked on theater productions . There she was seen at the 1970 premiere of Jay Friedman's Steambath at the Truck and Warehouse Theater. In 1972 she played an androgynous runaway at the premiere of Joyce Carol Oates Ontological Proof of My Existence . This role gave her an invitation to a screen test for the world-famous horror film The Exorcist . There she was eventually cast for two roles: The Demon and the "possessed Regan" ( Linda Blair in human form). In these roles, however, Dietz was only seen on the screen for 8 to 10 seconds.

After the great success of The Exorcist , Dietz won desires on television and starred in a number of series including Planet of the Apes , Korg: 70,000 BC , Barnaby Jones and Happy Days . In the film, she first appeared again in 1977 as Linette Waterman in the soap operas Springfield Story and You Light Up My Life, and in 1979 in Saat des Wahnsinns - Clonus Horror (Clonus Horror) .

In 1980, Dietz joined the cast of General Hospital as Sarah Abbott, a role she played for several years . She also guest starred in Trapper John, MD and in the horror film Freeway Maniac . More recent appearances include Naked in the Cold Sun , Hurricane Festival , Bad Guys , Exorcism , The Mojo Cafe , Neighborhood Watch , Constantine , Karla , Creepshow 3 , Dog Lover's Symphony and Tracing Cowboys .

2009 was a very busy year for Dietz. She starred in the films Stingy Jack , Halloween 2 , See How They Run , Butterfly , Second Coming of Mary , Legend of the Mountain Witch and in Monsterpice Theater Volume 1 .

Dietz has been married to Thomas Albany since 1984. Her second sister, Denise Dietz , is a successful author.
