A Blood Red Morning is a Chinese movie by Li Shaohong , a so-called “fifth generation” director of the Beijing Film Academy , from 1990. The original title is Xuese Qingchen . The content of the film is very much based on the novel Chronicle of an Announced Death by Gabriel García Márquez .

In a north Chinese village, the young teacher Li Mingguang is murdered because he is said to have stolen the innocence of young Li Pingwa . Her family and the entire village are taking revenge for this. The socially critical film deals with the background and the origin of this act. This will u. a. shown on the basis of research by the public prosecutor's office, the conversations of the villagers and the social structures in the village. In the end, the perpetrators, i.e. those who accused the teacher at the beginning, are transported away.
