Einar Økland

Einar Andreas Økland (born January 17, 1940 in Valevåg ) is a Norwegian writer .

Life

Økland was born in the municipality of Sveio in Fylke Hordaland . From 1960 to 1965 he studied psychology in Oslo . He then settled down as a psychologist in Bodø , then in 1966 as a full-time writer in Oslo. There he was one of the founders of the Profil group . In 1992 he was director of the Festspillene i Bergen cultural festival .

Økland made his debut as a writer in 1963 with the volume of poetry Ein gul dag . Since then he has published over 50 books of poetry , prose , essays and children's and youth literature . He has been awarded several prizes for this, including the Critics' Prize for Children's and Young People's Literature (1978), the Aschehoug Prize (1988), the Melsomp Prize (1992), the Dobloug Prize (2000), the Gyldendal Prize (2006) and the Brageprisen Prize (2015 ).
