A completely normal family ( English. Original title: There's No Disgrace Like Home ) is the fourth episode of the first season of the series The Simpsons . It is the first Simpsons episode to be broadcast in Germany . It was broadcast on ZDF in 1991.

Homer takes his family to a company picnic where he is embarrassed about the behavior of Bart, Lisa and Marge. When Homer notices that his boss, Mr. Burns, approves of a "normal", well-behaved family who treat one another with respect, he wonders why his dysfunctional family is misbehaving and disregarding everyone.

When Marge, Bart, and Lisa claim there is nothing wrong with them, Homer tries to prove the opposite by taking them on a neighborhood tour and peering through the living room windows to watch other families. The Simpsons retreat to the safety of their home after a neighbor fires a gun at them. Depressed by the outing, Homer has a drink at Moe's tavern, where he is watching a television commercial for Dr. Marvin Monroe sees. Dr. Monroe guarantees "family happiness or double your money back," so Homer believes therapy will improve his family's behavior.

To the chagrin of his family, Homer mortgages their television set to pay for $ 250 therapy. When Dr. Monroe asks the Simpsons to draw pictures of the cause of their problems, Bart, Lisa and Marge Homer draw. Distracted, Homer pulls a plane in flight. After Homer gets angry and tries to attack his family with a lamp, Dr. Monroe the Simpsons padded mallets to train their aggression without harming each other. The exercise fails when Bart removes the padding from his hammer and hits the doctor in the knee with the hard inner core.

Dr. Frustrated, Monroe resorts to aversion therapy by plugging family members into an electrical generator so they can shock each other to prevent wrongdoing. So often are the Simpsons shocked that the generator is damaged and the entire city suffers a power outage, pleasing Mr. Burns, the owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. When Dr. Monroe realizes he can't help the Simpsons, so he orders them to leave. When Homer Dr. Reminding Monroe that his television commercial promised a money-back guarantee, he pays Homer $ 500 to stop him from telling anyone his family has been to the clinic. With a new sense of oneness, the Simpsons are using the money to replace their TV.
