action

Brussels on a hot summer night. When the film starts, darkness has already fallen. In the middle of the night, a thunderstorm. The film ends at dawn the next day.

To see: individual moments and short scenes, some characters only for a moment, only in one scene, others over the course of the night a few times, so that a few short stories result.

Few people can sleep in the heat of that night. Most of them are pushed out into the streets or bars. Couples find each other, in reunions or spontaneously to dance. Other couples split up. A woman leaves her husband, goes to the hotel, and yet returns home at the end of the night. An older man sits at his desk until late at night and works, another sits in his solitude at the open window and listens to the noises of the sleepless city.

A film with very little dialogue. A few words on the phone. Once a couple had a short conversation in bed, and the woman said: “This summer would soon be over”. Once, speaking softly to himself, a man whose friend just had to leave and who is now starting a letter with the words: "Dear Vincent, I already miss you." A few more situations like this, but there are no more spoken words in this movie.

music

There are three pieces of music to be heard: One of the Kindertotenlieder by Gustav Mahler, as well as - each for the dance of couples - Ma Révérence by Véronique Sanson and L'amore perdonerà by Gino Lorenzi. This song, as it is also often briefly heard, acts like a musical leitmotif of the film.
