Luc Barnier

Luc Barnier (born September 25, 1954 in Boulogne-Billancourt , Hauts-de-Seine ; † September 16, 2012 ) was a French film editor .

Life

After his editing debut in the documentary Les oiseaux de nuit and the short film Feux de nuit in 1978, Barnier was allowed to take responsibility for editing the film for Michel Vuillermet's Le règlement intérieur in 1981 . Since then, the busy Barnier has been able to look back on a career of over 100 film cuts in cinema, television and indie productions. Barnier became known especially through his collaboration with the French directors Benoît Jacquot and Olivier Assayas . For the former he edited, among others, Au fond des bois and Adolphe , while for the latter he edited Irma Vep and Demonlover . Overall, despite his extremely extensive filmography, Barnier was rarely considered for a film award. For Assayas Carlos - The Jackal, he received both the European Film Award and a César nomination for best editing. He received his first César nomination in 1999 with Place Vendôme .
