The ice rock flower ( Draba dubia ) is a representative of the rock flower ( Draba ) that only occurs in alpine locations .

features

The ice rock flower is a perennial , herbaceous plant . It reaches heights of growth of 3 to 14 cm. The whole plant is hairy. The stems are loosely star-haired. In addition to the basal leaves, there are a maximum of three stem leaves. The base of the leaf margin is covered with simple hairs, the tip with star hairs. The leaf surfaces are hairy at least in some leaves, the star hairs are usually richly branched.

The petals are white and 3 to 5 mm long. The tip is rounded or flat. Flowering time is June to August, pollination takes place by insects or self-pollination .

The pod fruit is 6 to 14 mm long, lanceolate, pointed at both ends and glabrous or slightly hairy on the edge. The pen is intended for fruit mm long time 0.3 to 0.4.

The species has chromosome number 2n = 16.

Occurrence

The ice rock flower grows in the Alps in crevices, in rock rubble, especially in exposed locations at the alpine altitude between 1800 and 3425 m. It occurs particularly on intermediate rocks that are rich in bases but often poor in lime. In the Allgäu it grows at altitudes between 1950 and 2240 meters. Dörr and Lippert report from the Allgäu that it usually grows over 2000 meters, but also considerably deeper. It thrives on crags, rock outcrops and boulders, often in hidden locations and mostly in a few specimens.

In terms of plant sociology , it is a class of character of the Asplenietea trichomano-rutae-murariae .
