Ice-Hennig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eis-Hennig is a Berlin ice cream parlor chain named after its founders, Franz and Alois Hennig . It is one of the oldest ice cream parlors in Berlin . Together with the Florida Eis chain, which also has a few branches in the northwest of the city , Eis-Hennig in Berlin was one of the big names in its industry.

history

Eis-Hennig was founded in 1930 by Franz and Alois Hennig in Berlin-Steglitz , two years after Berlin's first ice cream parlor opened ( Café Monheim in Wilmersdorfer Blissestraße). The first branch was on today's Feuerbachbrücke. The company was rebuilt by Franz Hennig from 1949 after his return from Soviet captivity . His company expanded and established itself primarily in southwest Berlin, where the chain enjoyed great popularity until the 1980s. The old and traditional premises as well as the fluctuation of the workforce at that time, however, caused them to return to normal levels. From July 1995, the company operated a branch in the formerly famous Mokka-Milch-Eisbar in Karl-Marx-Allee . At the top, the chain had 11 branches. As of 2007 there were ten Eis-Hennig ice cream parlors, seven of which were run by the family, and in 2018 only two were left. The branch on Tempelhofer Damm has been offering ice-cream pennies since 2018 .

particularities

The ice cream parlors are characterized by the fact that the ice cream is not portioned into scoops, but rather that the individual types are spread into the sundae in layers with a spatula . Directly behind the service counters are the ice machines that are visible to everyone and are available for constant ice production.
