Auschwitz railway accident

In the railway accident at Auschwitz (today: Oświęcim , Poland ) on August 3, 1918, a mixed train derailed during an emergency braking on the Vistula Bridge in Auschwitz . At least eight people died in the accident .

Starting position

The heavily delayed freight train 76, on the railway line Vienna - Krakow road, stopped at the "stop" pointing Einfahrsignal the station Auschwitz on the Vistula bridge.

The following 46 wagons continued to roll and exerted such pressure on the braked part of the train that 7 of the braked wagons derailed and 5 fell into the Vistula .
