Barwałd Średni railway accident
The Barwałd Średni railway accident occurred on November 24, 1944 in Barwałd Średni near Wadowice . When a passenger train from Zakopane to Krakow collided with a German military train, over 130 passengers , soldiers and crews of the locomotives died , and 100 to 200 other people were injured.

In the railway accident between 3:15 and 3:20 p.m., a German military train with supplies for the Eastern Front collided head-on with an express train traveling from Zakopane to Krakow .
