Kazipet railway accident

The Kazipet railway accident caused a bridge collapse on September 27 or 28, 1954 near Kazipet , in the Indian state of Telangana . 139 people died.

the accident

A river that swelled after heavy rainfall washed away the foundations of a steel bridge between Secunderabad and Kazipet on the Hyderabad – Kazipet railway line . The bridge collapsed when a 600 traveler busy train from Hyderabad they sailed. Several wagons fell into the river, at least one was swept away by the strong current.

consequences

139 people died and more than 100 were injured. Almost all of the fatalities drowned. Corpses were recovered downstream for days.
