Penukonda railway accident

In the railway accident in Penukonda on May 22, 2012, a passenger train ran into a freight train in the station of Penukonda in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh . 25 people died.

Starting position

A freight train was parked in Penukonda station waiting to exit. Against 3:15 in the morning to the train station on the approaching railway Gooty - Yelahanka the South Western Railway , a unit of the Indian Railways , the Hampi Express , which of Guntakal to Bangalore was away on the road and still about 150 km from its destination station. consequences

A total of 25 people died in this railway accident and more than 100 others were injured. Many of the victims came from Bellary, Hubli and Hospet in Karnataka , workers on their way to Bangalore. Seventeen women died in a car reserved for women, which was the most damaged. A rescue train from Bangalore was driven to the scene of the accident for the rescue work.
