The Eisenstein is a 516.2-meter-high mountain in the Saxon part of the western Erzgebirge . It is one of the mountains towering 150 to over 200 meters above the Aue basin and is completely wooded.

While the mountain gently continues to the east in the direction of Oberpfannenstiel in the higher Hirschberg , the northwest slope in the direction of the Bärengrund , the western slope to Niederpfannenstiel and especially the southern slope in the Schwarzwassertal fall steeply and partly rocky. Nevertheless, the local connecting road from Aue to Oberpfannenstiel runs on the southern slope. Below the road is a still-used quarry.
