Ice Hockey Championship of the Pacific
The Ice Hockey Championship of the Pacific ( English Pacific Rim Championship ) was a women's ice hockey tournament held in 1995 and 1996 by the International Ice Hockey Federation for the countries bordering the Pacific Ocean . The competition was thus limited to the women's national teams of the United States , Canada , Japan and the People's Republic of China . Canada won both runs of the competition.
In 1996, the tournament served as a qualification for the 1997 Women's World Cup , for which the top three qualified. Since another World Cup division was introduced from the 1999 Women's World Cup, the competition was obsolete and was not continued.
