Ekkehart Vetter (born June 3, 1956 in Sarve ) is a German Protestant theologian , pastor in the Mülheim Association of Free Church Evangelical Congregations , author and, since 2017, chairman of the German Evangelical Alliance .

Live and act

Vetter grew up with his twin brother and one older brother in Sarve / Lower Saxony, where his parents, who fled Silesia after the war, built up a living. The Abitur in Nordenham followed from 1975 to 1977 the civil service in the curative education in Eckernförde . After community internships in the Karlsruhe and Rendsburg districts of the Mülheim Association of Free Church Evangelical Congregations, he studied Protestant theology at the University of Hamburg from 1977 to 1983 . From 1983 he was first vicar and then pastor of the Evangelical Matthew Congregation in Stade . In 1993 he became chief pastor of the Christ Congregation in Mülheim an der Ruhr , which belongs to the Mülheimer Verband ; from 2009 also headed the daughter church Credo-Gemeinde Saarn, which was founded this year .

He is a member of the support group of the Lausanne Movement Germany as well as a board member since 1995 and since 2003 President of the Mülheim Association of Free Church Evangelical Congregations . Between 2011 and 2014 he was a member of the board of the Association of Evangelical Free Churches . Vetter has been involved in the main board since 2004 and in the executive board of the German Evangelical Alliance since 2008. There he was Vice Chairman from 2012 and was elected as the successor to Michael Diener in the office of First Chairman in December 2016 . He is the first alliance chairman from the Pentecostal movement, whom the alliance was once critical of.

Ekkehart Vetter has been married to his wife Sabine since 1978. The couple has six children and lives in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
