Ektapro
Ektapro was the last series of slide projectors from Kodak . The Ektapro projectors belong to the round magazine projectors and replaced the Carousel-S projectors and the Ektagraphic projectors (for the American market).
The main innovations were:
- a GRP reinforced plastic housing
- an RS-232 - interface for control over the PC in accordance with Kodak P-COM protocol
- an automatic lamp change that was implemented via mirrors (if one lamp fails during projection, the second lamp is automatically switched on.)
- a slot for various expansion cards (e.g. for MIDI control).
There were five different equipment variants and 3 series:
- Ektapro 3000 (very simple equipment, standalone operation, no RS-232 interface)
- Ektapro 4000 (automatic lamp change and RS-232 interface [input only])
- Ektapro 5000 (automatic lamp change, timer , autofocus and RS-232 interface [input only])
- Ektapro 7000 (automatic lamp change and RS-232 interface [input and output])
- Ektapro 9000 (fully equipped with automatic lamp change, timer, autofocus and RS-232 interface [input & output] as well as an automatic slide magazine reset).
The series differed from their predecessors in terms of small technical changes and were identified according to the following principle: Series0 with x000, Series1 with x010 and Series2 with x020. A change between the series was the introduction of a HighLight circuit, with which the lamp used was set to a higher luminosity.
The Ektapro projectors are operated with 82V / 300 watt cold light mirror lamps as well as grooved and rack and pinion lenses . The Leica Pradovit RT projectors, which are also sold after the Kodak models have been discontinued, are identical to the Ektapro .
Both commercial software and open source programs exist for controlling the projectors via the RS-232 interface. B. allow the creation of slide shows with cross-fading between several projectors even without hardware control units.
