Elías Gurevich

Elías Gurevich (* in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan violinist.

Born into a family of musicians, Gurevich came to Israel in 1982, where he played in various orchestras and became a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica del SODRE in Uruguay . Since 1983 he has been principal violinist of the Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. In 1985 he became first violinist of the Camerata Bariloche , with whom he appeared in New York's Carnegie Hall , the Kennedy Center in Washington, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Vienna Musikverein .

In 1996 he founded the Trío Argentino , which received the award for the best chamber music association of the Argentine Music Critics Association, the award for the best foreign chamber music association of the Chilean Music Critics Association and in 2003 the Premio Gardel for the best classical album. In 1997 he became a member of the quintet of the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Música Contemporánea (CEAMC). At the invitation of the Symphonicum Europae Foundation , he took part in a concert at the turn of the millennium in New York's Lincoln Center in 1999 .

Gurevich recorded CDs with the Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Colón , the Camerata Bariloche , the Sinfonietta Omega and the Trío Argentino . An album with Carlos Franzetti was awarded a Grammy in 2002. In 2003 he released an album with recordings of the piano trios Gabriel Faurés and Franz Schuberts at the Teatro Colón , which was nominated for the Premio Gardel and in 2004 for the Grammy as best classical album .
