El último de los Vargas is the Spanish-language version of the western The Last of the Duanes , which was produced in Hollywood in 1930. Directed by David Howard , George Lewis starred as Jorge Lewis in the lead role of José Vargas.

After a long time abroad, the cowboy José Vargas returns home to Llanos, Texas. He must discover that his father was killed. Although he promises his mother to renounce vigilante justice, he is then forced to shoot the murderer and now has to flee himself. When he learns on the way that one of his acquaintances, Elvira Nuñez, has been kidnapped by the outlaw Blanco, who with his gang is also responsible for the death of her father, Vargas manages to free Elvira and hand Blanco into the hands of the law also acknowledge his innocence.

Remarks

Before the dubbing work translated the dialogues of the films into the respective language, it was customary to shoot a film in different language versions and in partly different casts popular in the respective countries. El último de las Vargas is one of those films. The original script was based on a story by Zane Gray that first appeared in September 1914 in Argosy magazine. It was produced by Fox Film Corporation . Alfred L. Werker directed the English-language film with George O'Brien in the Vargas role of John Duane.

The recordings were shot a. a. in Sedona , Arizona .

The film was shown in Barcelona in November 1930 and in Madrid in December.
