El Rosario is a city with around 16,000 inhabitants in the south of the Mexican state of Sinaloa and the administrative seat of the Municipio Rosario . It is located near the border with the state of Nayarit and has been known as Pueblo Mágico since 2012 .
The city is famous for the altar in the city church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora . Rosario was once the richest city in northwestern Mexico because there were many mining operations in Rosario.
