Electronica 1: The Time Machine is the first of two studio albums by French musician Jean-Michel Jarre that were created in collaboration with several musicians . It was released on October 16, 2015 by Sony Music and Columbia Records and Jarre's own label AERO and is his 17th studio album. It is dedicated to the Tangerine Dream front man Edgar Froese †.

After a period of touring and performing, Jarre contacted a number of well-known musicians who "were known for their unique contributions to the genre [of electronic music] . " Jarre designed joint titles with each of them and initially processed them as an e-project .

The first individual advance publications, e.g. B. via the iTunes Store , carried the album title E-Project . On August 28, 2015, the name Electronica 1: The Time Machine was introduced via Jarre's website and the full album was released on October 16, 2015. The different names sometimes caused inconsistencies in various music databases. Electronica 1: The Time Machine contains many different styles of music and it was important to Jarre that you can musically differentiate between him and the respective collaborator within a piece.
