The development history of production and application can be traced for the visitor on a thousand square meters of exhibition space . The collection includes historical rarities and is supplemented by a technology laboratory in which the visitor can experiment independently with electricity (pumped storage power plant, funicular, transformer principle , private radio station , electric motors , electric conductors / non-conductors , power saving and plug-in wall for electrical circuits ).

Temporary and special exhibitions offer those interested in technology a wide range of topics. The Electricity Museum is unique in Switzerland: a museum you can “touch”.

The museum is part of the wider Basel museum landscape and also takes part in the Basel Museum Night .
