Elena Dobrovolschi

Elena Fodor Dobrovolschi , later Mărgărit and Niculescu , (born October 25, 1936 in Timișoara ) is a former Romanian artistic gymnast .

She did gymnastics at CSU Știința Bucureşti. In 1953 she was appointed to the national team and at the 1954 World Gymnastics Championships she was a member of the Romanian team, which reached fourth place. 1956 Dobrovolschi took part in the Olympic Games in Melbourne. Together with Elena Săcălici , Georgeta Hurmuzachi , Sonia Iovan , Elena Leuştean and Emilia Liță , she won bronze behind the Soviet Union and Hungary and thus the first gymnastics all- around team medal for Romania. In addition, she reached fifth place in group gymnastics.

At the gymnastics world championships in 1958 , she won the bronze medal with the Romanian team behind the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. In 1960 Elena Dobrovolschi took part in her second Olympic Games , where, like four years earlier, she won bronze with the Romanian team. In addition, she reached 16th place in the individual all-around competition.

She later moved to Germany, where she worked in exercise therapy.
