Elenilson da Silva

Elenilson da Silva (born January 24, 1972 ) is a former Brazilian long-distance runner .

In 1995, he ran at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Durham on 34th place and won at the South American Championships in Athletics in Santiago on silver m 5000 .

At the 1996 World Cross Country Championships in Stellenbosch he came in 148th and 37th at the 1997 World Cross Country Championships in Turin.

In 1999 he won the Pan American Games in Winnipeg over 10,000 m and took silver over 5,000 m. In the following year he won the Ibero-American Championships over 10,000 m and won bronze over 5000 m. He was fourth in the São Paulo Marathon and second in the Long Beach Marathon .

In 2001 he took 57th place in the long distance cross-country championships in Ostend , won the South American Championships in Manaus over 5000 m and came 13th in the Berlin Marathon .

He was part of the Brazilian team that set the current South America record in the marathon relay on April 19, 1998 in Manaus with 2:04:50 h .
