Eleonore Margarete of Hessen-Homburg
Eleanor Margaret of Hesse-Homburg (* 23. September 1679 in Weferlingen ; † 24. September 1763 in Homburg ) was a princess of Hesse-Homburg and Dekanissin in Herford .
Life
Eleonore Margarete was a daughter of Landgrave Friedrich II of Hesse-Homburg (1633–1708), the famous Prince of Homburg , from his second marriage to Luise Elisabeth (1646–1690), daughter of Duke Jakob von Kurland .
Eleonore Margarete was brought up strictly in the Reformed faith by her mother and her aunt Charlotte Sophia von Kurland , the abbess of Herford Abbey . For the princess described as beautiful and witty, the future Emperor Joseph I applied in 1698 , but she turned down this offer because she did not want to change to the Roman Catholic faith.
Unmarried for the rest of her life, she joined the reformed Herford Abbey and became dean in 1761.
