Elfi Kreiter (* 1936 ) is a German editor who initially worked for the SDR and then for the ZDF, mainly in the documentary sector. Among other things, she edited many award-winning documentaries by Georg Stefan Troller and Hans-Dieter Grabe . This resulted in completely different films in terms of style and style, some of them rapid and virtuoso, the others narrating in large, calm arcs. She compared creating a film in the editing room to "composing" music. Elfi Kreiter (until 1980 Elfi Harder) was the first editor to receive a Grimme Prize for her work in 1991(in gold). A year later she received the German Camera Award for editing the ZDF report Pére Aristide - Last Chance for Haiti .
