Elfriede Madl

Elfriede Madl (born November 7, 1949 in Linz ) is a former Austrian politician of the FPÖ , BZÖ and an avowed Scientologist . Madl was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1994 to 1999 .

Life

Madl attended an elementary school in Linz from 1956 to 1960 and then moved to a secondary school in Linz. Between 1964 and 1966 she attended the Federal Commercial Academy in Linz and then switched to the commercial vocational school until 1967. She initially worked from 1967 to 1972 as an independent retail clerk and became self-employed from 1972 to 1976. After working abroad in the tourism, export and import sector until 1980, she was a manager from 1980 to 1995.

Madl was a member of the Laussa municipal council from 1991 to 1999, and from 1995 to 1999 she was deputy district party leader of the FPÖ Steyr-Land . She was sworn in on November 7, 1994 as the representative of the FPÖ in the National Council and was a member of it until October 28, 1999. As of August 31, 1999, she was without a club membership because she had to leave the FPÖ after she had supported Richard Lugner's list . She was later active in the BZÖ Gmunden .

Madl is an avowed Scientologist. According to her own statements, while looking for a cure for her drug addict son, she came across a book by L. Ron Hubbard , which prompted her to have him treated at a Narconon center.
